I believe the article was specifically referring to a afro bun

  • Also, what cultural Animal Crossing Bells significance do hair buns, that are common across the world have in this regard? I'm actually reminded of the Chinese dress dilemma, where twitter bullied a white woman wearing it, to get the same"you don't know the cultural meaning" motive, until the genuine Chinese state account on twitter(iirc) told her that it's completely nice and she looks great.

I will begin with your final point that's to say that I believe the article was specifically referring to a afro bun. Hence the afro part is what is being appropriated.

For your other point, I'm not defending her actions, I'm explaining why she may be mad. And possibly has attempted to describe previously and people just didn't get it and she got tired of reexplaining. Or perhaps she doesn't know her own anger enough to voice it so she lashes out in anger. Or perhaps she is just a terrible person employing this talking point for a chance to go off on somebody. I can not say for certain all I'm attempting to convey is that posts like this get passed around as an endeavor to reveal liberal hypocrisy or to demonstrate how"All these SJWs are terrible people!!" . My point is that she doesn't signify the core beliefs that these people hold, just that she's lashing out in anger.

But this isn't taking things from context. This is a way to tie your own hair, so as to keep it out of your face. If a white person ties their own hair in this fashion, they did it for the same purpose a black person did, so it is not misrepresenting the culture, so that should not be cultural appropriation. Unless you imply black men and women shouldn't be permitted to wear certain sorts of hair braids because they come from Europe? I think that as long as it's not a cultural/religious Cheap Nook Miles Ticket ceremony hairstyle or something, anyone should be able to use it, as it is just another method of keeping hair from your face.
